Fight Ovarian Cancer

I found out last week that my Mom will have to start her chemotherapy treatments all over again. She just finished the last round of treatments in June. So it has only been 3 months since she has been cleared. Her hair has grown just long enough to stop wearing scarves and now in a few weeks she will lose it all again. She seems to be in high spirits, but what else do you do. Give up or fight for your life. I was glad for all the comfort that I gained from so many of the general conference talks this weekend, as I watch my Mom face another 5 months of HELL! It makes me mad that she is such a healthy, strong woman whose life has been dramatically changed because of this disease.
Please keep her in your prayers!
I also found out that September was national ovarian cancer awareness month. I bet no one even heard about it? Did anyone? Meanwhile breast cancer awareness is promoted over and over again. Ovarian cancer is very sneaky. It usually goes undetected until it is in it late stages, making it very hard to combat. There are no tests that are routinely given to detect this type of cancer. No, your PAP test doesn't detect it. That test is for cervical cancer. Please check out the ovarian cancer foundation website and become familiar with the signs and symptoms of this deadly disease. Breast cancer may be more wide spread but more women die from ovarian cancer due to the lack of prevention. Next September I would like to try to put together a fundraiser Fun Run to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. As far as I can tell Utah doesn't have anything like this yet. So put on your running shoes and lets help fight ovarian cancer.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I hope that she will be as comfortable as possible through it. Linda and I have tried to get together and it never happens. We need to just plan a date and hope that everyone can make it.

Your mom is such an awesome lady. Sorry to hear that she has to go through chemo again. It is so hard to see somebody that you love go through that. I would love to do the run if you put it on. I will even help you out with it.

So, sorry to hear about your mom. My husband's mom had uterine cancer and it is such an awful thing to watch a loved one go through. I too would love to help you out with a fun run. On a lighter note- you sure do have a cute family! Its been fun to see what you guys have been up to!

My heart aches for you and your mom. I can't help but get choked up reading this. You are awesome to be trying to put something together. I feel like I should be doing more to support and help with cancer awareness. I'm at the point where I don't know what I can do to make a difference. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers. It's so overwhelming to be the one giving support and help. Good luck.

Michelle- I am so sorry about your mom. How frustrating and terrible for her to have had 3 good months and then find out she has to do it all again. If you do the run let me know.
